How Well Do You STAND OUT From The Crowd?

Answer all the questions to see how you score among top employees!

1. I understand that “business as usual” is over. I want to out-think, out-shine, out-maneuver and out- perform the competition. Therefore, I make whatever changes are necessary to stand out from the crowd.

2. I am mentally prepared to handle stress, cope with difficult people and situations and ACT rather than REACT to the challenges I face.

3. I consider new ideas, opportunities for continuous growth and unique strategies with an objective mind and concentrate on the long-term benefits.

4. I understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships; therefore, I choose to be in healthy relationships.

5. If I see an opportunity to initiate a change that will help me, my team, my customers or my organization, I take positive steps to make it happen.

6. I make sure my strengths and skills fit into the big picture of my organization.

7. I am accountable for the choices I make and the consequences of those choices.

8. I am able to let go of past issues that keep me from creating the future I want.

9. I focus on the good things in my life, respectful relationships, lessons learned and obstacles overcome. I leverage the power of positive thinking.

10. I am productive, efficient and hard working. I come to my job ready to give a full day’s work for a full day’s pay.

11. I am committed to developing new competencies, sharpening my skills and learning as much as possible from every person I meet, every experience I have and every resource available.

12. I take care of my personal needs and problems on my own time, not on business/company time.

13. I have realistic expectations that are reasonable and fair, but also challenge me to be the best I can be.

14. I am an assertive, confident communicator. I let people know what I need and want without resorting to game -playing or manipulative behaviors.

15. I identify and utilize my strengths in my personal and professional life, whenever and wherever possible.

16. I take advantage of networking opportunities to expand my resources, share ideas, listen to different opinions and exchange services with those inside and outside my areas of expertise.

17. I take action on the important things in my life instead of reacting to every unimportant little thing that comes along. I am good at setting priorities and sticking to them.

18. I choose my attitudes carefully because I realize they will impact how people treat me, respond to me and respect me.

19. If my employer gave a thank-you note for a job well done, I would be one of the first to receive it. I believe I am seen as a very valued person within my organization.

20. When things don’t go as planned, I re-think the situation, reassess the options and re-consider my strategy.

21. I work hard to create a healthy environment outside of work because I realize that my “personal life choices” can affect my ability to successfully do my job.

22. I spend within my means. I try to stay as debt-free as possible so my credit is good and my credit scores are high.

23. I take a close look at my limitations because I know that I can never be as successful as I would like to be until I fully know and understand who I am.

24. I avoid manipulation. I understand the power of using hurt to induce guilt and anger to create fear and I choose not to communicate using those techniques.

25. I can identify the four major communication styles (assertive, aggressive, passive, or passive aggressive), and I choose to be assertive.

26. I believe in the power of respect. I treat others with respect through my tone of voice, body language, non-verbal and verbal communication with them, and I expect the same in return.

27. I listen to other people when they are talking, instead of interrupting or having the last word. I stay focused on them rather than thinking about what I’m going to say next.

28. I realize there are no “job guarantees”. Therefore, I am very committed to continually exploring new ideas that could improve my specific job performance and the value I bring to the organization. I am proactive, not complacent.

29. I have a strong group of people who trust me, believe in me and are willing to help me if I need them. I have advocates and allies in my life.

30. I am resilient. I don’t get “down in the dumps” every time something doesn’t go as planned. Instead of dwelling on the past, I am quick to move forward and try again.

31. I do everything I can to stay physically healthy (exercise, healthy diet, rest, etc.) so I can meet the demands of this crazy 24/7 world.

32. I make it a priority to do things I enjoy and be with people I like apart from work. I am involved in hobbies, sports, travel or other leisure activities that bring me joy.

33. I am in charge of my life. Although I may not be able to control everything, I can control how I act and react to whatever life throws my way.

34. I choose to surround myself with positive people who can motivate, energize and encourage me in a positive way.

35. I make sure that my colleagues, customers and management are aware of the things I do that exceed expectations so they will see me as a necessary and essential part of a successful team.

36. I am not threatened when others have ideas that are different or better than mine. I give credit where credit is due.

37. No matter what my title or job description, I realize I am in the business of “sales”. I am able to“sell” myself, my value, my talents, my character and my vision so that others will believe and trust in me to get the job done.

38. I ask for and accept fair, constructive feedback. I understand that perception is a powerful thing. Learning how I come across to others is an important part of understanding myself.

39. I am selective about the skills I decide to learn and look for ways to turn those skills into new strengths.

40. I understand that leadership is not about holding a title or having the corner office. It is about influencing others in a positive way. I am committed to modeling good leadership traits in every area of my personal and professional life.

41. I know I can’t stand still in a world that moves this fast. Therefore, I take advantage of training and learning opportunities inside and outside my organization to increase my value and to improve the odds for my own employability and my future.

42. I take responsibility for my actions rather than blaming others when things don’t go my way. Even when it isn’t my fault, I work to find a solution and move forward.

43. I look for, initiate and implement creative ways for my organization to make money and save money so it can remain profitable and stay in business.

44. I am aware that I am in the “customer service” business, no matter what job I have. I either work to bring in or retain customers or I work with, work for or manage those who do have direct customer contact. I am part of a team that keeps customers satisfied and eager to continue to do business with us.

45. My professional relationships are healthy and supportive and contribute to my professional development and well-being.

46. My personal relationships are healthy and supportive and contribute to my personal development and well-being.

47. I am aware of my limitations and choose to view them as challenges to overcome rather than weaknesses. I strive to be better, not perfect.

48. Life balance is important to me; therefore, my performance is in alignment with my beliefs and values.

49. I create strong business alliances by identifying and forming relationships with the people I can help, as well as those who can help me.

50. I RESPECT MYSELF. I AM PROUD OF WHO I AM AND WHAT I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED.I am grateful for the opportunity to make a POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.
